Butler County EMS offers Mental Health First Aid course Nov. 7 in El Dorado

Butler County EMS will hold an eight-hour Mental Health First Aid training course on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., including a lunch break, at the Butler County EMS Station, 701 N. Haverhill Road in El Dorado.

The evidence-based course prepares participants to interact with an adult experiencing a mental health crisis or substance use challenge. Butler County EMS compared it to CPR training, which prepares people to help someone having a heart attack.

The course is intended for employers, police officers and first responders, hospital and medical staff, and community members.
