Butler County EMS fee increase goes before commissioners Nov. 3

October 31, 2026 government, public meetings, agenda preview

The Butler County Board of County Commissioners will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 205 W. Central Ave., 4th Floor, in El Dorado.

Commissioners will consider a Butler County EMS staff recommendation to increase EMS fees for base rates, mileage, standby and treat/release.

EMS says its budget depends primarily on fees for service and that it reviews fees every three to five years, looking at allowed insurance reimbursement, the cost of providing EMS and charges by similar-sized services in the region. Staff says current rates do not capture the maximum amount allowable after recent increases in health insurance reimbursement.

Staff recommends the changes take effect Nov. 30, 2026, and estimates they would generate an additional $150,000 per year, which is reflected in the 2027 budget.
